Massachusetts is home to one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country, Harvard University. Three of the top liberal arts colleges are in the state which led to its large contribution to American arts and culture. It was home to many famous authors and poets such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Emily Dickinson as well as famous painters such as Norman Rockwell. Along with its higher education, biotechnology and tourism play a huge role in its economy.
Cape Cod, an arm-shaped peninsula, features many natural attractions, historic sites and miles of beaches. It is a very popular vacation area in the eastern section of the state. Meanwhile, the Greater Boston area has some of the most famous, historic sites in the United States. Home to the Boston Red Sox, Massachusetts is a wonderful state with the best of all four seasons and easy access to beaches, snow topped mountains, lakes and rivers.
